What is the cost to charge electric cars and how long does it take to get a full charge? Is it really a money savings over gas/diesel?

It is cheaper to operate an electric car or a hybrid car.

Yes. And the cost for new parts.

I won't own one because government wants to force me to.

I bet the first time you have to pay a "disposal fee" for the batteries in one you will have a stroke

Electric cars being "green" is a joke

Look how much is involved with windmils alone. Blades have to be changed regularly and cannot be recycled, they bury them. Then you have all of the chemicals and such needed to operate the thing and disposal of that stuff

I am all about protecting the environment but electric cars are no better for the environment when you break it all down

Teslas take between 70 and 120kw/hrs to fully charge.

New batteries are thousands of dollars, plus labor

If gas is $3 a gallon and I get 30 miles per gallon, costs me 10 cents a mile.

What is cost per mile to drive electric? Tesla? Volt? F150? Golf cart?

It may depend on the Brand of electric car you are talking about. Teslas have to be taken to a dealer for repairs. There is going to have to be a ton of more charging stations put in before electric cars become feasible. Another side of electric cars that rarely gets discussed is pedestrian fatalities. Electric cars tend to be quiet and pedestrians may not be able to hear them coming. I have seen a blind man walking along the street and shudder to think about how quiet cars could really screw him up. I know Teslas have fake motor noises but what happens when those fake motor noises malfunction. Just my 2 cents.

Roughly 4-5 cents per mile at home. About 10 cents at a "gas" station Based on epa milage estimate.

Most e vehicles can use 110v but take upto 3 times longer to charge. Most use 220v for short charge times.
Most houses don't have extra 220 in the garage add to that there might not be enough room in the panel doo a sub panel or upgraded panel would significantly add to the cost.

I know 1 electrician quoted around $3500 to upgrade my panel. Hit that quote because I want to eventually run a 220v tig welder in the garage and want to have ductless hvac system.

4 cents a mile....more or less depending on local cost per kwh.

So on Nov 3rd, I was paying $1.80 per gallon for gas......Camry gets 30 mpg. So 6 cents a mile.

Explains a lot.....like why some puke bent on flipping the fleet from gas to electric would want to double or triple energy prices. The question is why? Whose greedy palm is getting greased from all this?

Many years ago when I was still working an article in a manufacturing trade magazine looked at the ENTIRE life cycle of producing and disposing of an electric car.

The end result was that it caused a larger hazardous waste problem than a standard fossil fuel vehicle over its entire life on earth.

And that does not include the smoke that is being blown up US citizens orifices.

Even at that, still purely on a gas mileage basis, it's rarely ever worth it to buy another vehicle purely for gas prices. It would take more extreme prices that what we have now.

Now what is the REAL cost when temps are less than 32° during the winter??? Free comfort while driving with the internal combustion engine.

Figure in the cost of an E-car. Alexa just said a new Tesla is expected to cost in excess of $150,000.00
