I just brown up some sweet Italian sausage…then removed it from the pot and set aside. Then follow the recipe…add the cooked sausage. Make sure to purée 2 cups of the soup to thicken it up.

Nope …got my booster shot yesterday…that was a 3 hour ordeal….had to pull the kids truck out / slid off the driveway…it wasn’t a good day and didn’t pack all the fishing gear. So next weekend looks good…I think…

If so, what brand do you use?

We made chicken soup yesterday. A poultry processor in NC has direct sales in different cities every weekend. You must pre-purchase 40lb boxes of the cuts you want. Our delivery was Saturday AM and we had ordered 80lbs. My wife and I trimmed skin and fat from thighs. She boiled some thigh bones and fat to make broth. Probably got a gallon. She chills the broth and skims the fat. We call it chicken lard. Very good in veggies. Freezer is now stocked with 80lbs of chicken, the same amount of ground venison, and almost as much seafood (shrimp and chopped chowder clams).

This recipe is the Holy Grail ,Hippie. I’ve tried many ..I just added the browned sausage…BUT the zest of one lemon + plus the juice of one lemon…just moved this Lentil soup into 1st Place.

I thawed out some chili from a couple of weeks ago. Half deer burger and half pork burger.

Had a large bowl. Too full, but it was good w/shredded cheese and a few shots of hot sauce.

chicken thighs are so cheap here you can get a whole lot of broth from a 3 dollar tray of thighs

Wife and I were arguing last week about the difference between soup and stew. I’m a stew guy which to me means chunk beef, small amount of bacon, smoked sausage, cabbage, small amount of potatoes, and beef broth or beef stock. When it’s done cooking there’s not much broth or liquid. Soup on the other had has a ton of veggies balanced with some sort of meat and lots of broth. What say you?
