Hi All. I like to see what everyone uses for TV after cutting the cable, which model inside tv antenna ? Do they work? is the firestick any good if i go that way? live about 50 miles north of Pittsburgh out in country up on a hill with tree around, I know with firestick there are some cost to get streaming TV, I just don't like the cable bill anymore. Ideas anyone thanks. Furman 50

30 channels, no monthly bill.

We just went to roku. $25 still figuring it out, we dont watch much tv. will probably get the disney channel for my kid, I think its $8 a month.

I bought a couple of those flat antennas that look like a sheet of paper. 20 bucks on amazon. Im 25 miles from one city and about 50 from another. I pull most of the channels from both, sometimes the ones 50 miles away come in better. Around 30-35 total depending on weather. Frndly tv is the only thing we pay for, about 7 bucks a month with a 3-4 day built in dvr. More and more channels every time i look through it including all the hallmarks for thr wife and the fishing network, outdoor channel and sportsman channel. If you have a streaming device, get pluto tv. Its free and has a ton of stuff, mostly older. Always an old baseball game on. We have a couple rokus.

We use a flat antennas there's lots of free streaming services Pluto IMBD Samsung has its own, peacock came with Xfinity, Amazon
My TV came with fire built in. The fire stick remote was dropped one time on tile and the back now constantly slides off

Dont know the make of the one on the roof. Bought it so long ago when NY went from analog to digital. Get 50 some channels looks like a figure 8. Just bought one for the spare bedroom it's a Clearstream 1Max (40+miles). Mounted it inside the window. Gets all 50 some channels too. Make sure you point the antenna towards the broadcast towers. Which for me is the direction of the closest city. Metal seems to disrupt the reception. So away from the gutters and if in a downstairs window there may be interference when cars/trucks go by

No need for cable if you have a smart tv. So many free channels.

Look through amazon. This post got me lookin for a new antenna since i just got a shed tv anyway. Theyve come down in price since 2 years ago and for 30 bucks you can get a really well reviewed 250 mile flat indoor antenna. Once you get it hooked up, run a channel scan and itll tell you what you get. Remember to do that periodically-i just did one and apparently thr weather allowed me to pull something ive never got before.

I’ve got the same setup as turtledale. Mounted it in the attic and have coax to the basement with a signal booster then coax to all the TVs in the house. I get 50+ channels and don’t have an internet bill or satellite bill. Still get the chiefs games

When I split the coax to three different rooms I lost more than half the channels so I got on Amazon and found that signal booster. It did the trick

Bought an RCA flat Antenna for $60.00 Had to test it in a few different spots, for the best reception. Able to pull in 26 channels. All for free. No more $60.00 a Month!!!!

TV signal comes to you line of site. Figure the curvature of earth.
Figure the more signal you get the better your reception. SO the larger the antenna (captures signal) the better picture you will get
t We are 60 miles from the Quad cities 50 miles from Ottumwa 50 miles from Iowa City. Our antenna is the largest Winegard sold at the time On a 50' Tower. We still get "no signal" sometimes. Any time you split the signal you reduce it 50%. So From antenna- coax- then booster then split .
Those little converter boxes are a pain. We cannot use a rotor. In the old days we could recieve Hannible / Quincy. and several othersby just turning the rotor.

We have a Roku and there's a lot of stuff on them.

We just have a couple fire sticks. Pay only internet bill. We get free tv through TUBI and IMDB freedive. There are other free places to use, but these are the two we use. I refuse to pay for the drivel available today.

You guys using antennas to pull in digital signals, do you's have a DTA (Digital transport Adapter) hooked up to convert the signal from digital to analog?

That's how I do it at my camp. i still have one of the DTA's the government issued back when the TV signals went from analog to digital.

It hasn't been working well the last few years. I only get PBS anymore and that only on certain days.

Well dont take my advice on the antenna. I tried my amplified antenna i have in the basement that usually pulls 25 or so channels out in the shed. I got 4 channels after moving the antenna around a few spot. Wood sides with a metal roof. I was shocked i figured id pull a dozen or better.
