My dad passed away this evening, it was not unexpected. Went into the hospital last Monday with pneumonia and a UTI, didn't want intubation or other measures, they just kept him comfortable the past few days.
My last time with him was two weeks ago when I took him for a hair cut, he always proudly wore his WWII Veteran hat. He was a decorated veteran of the 503rd Parachute Infantry Battalion.
Among several places he fought was on the initial invasion of Corregidor. He's in a famous photo of Macarthur at the flagpole after the retake of the Island.
Very proud of my dad. Like a lot of those guys he hardly ever talked about the War unless asked.
He had a very strong faith in Jesus Christ; he told me a month or so ago he was "ready to go home".
I am happy he is now at unimaginable Peace.
