Awesome Pete! My wife Donna was saying about a month ago she wanted to move to Chicken, AK. I HAVE TO SHOW HER THIS!
She does not prefer the cold.

Blessings,
Mark

It was 60 deg here yesterday morning and I was wishing for some cold but not like that

I don't think I would last 15min outside in the best "cold weather" clothes I own

Those look like windchill temperatures. Coldest in Chicken last few days was -41. And yes still cold. Minus 40 is where both the Fahrenheit and Celcius scales actually meet i.e. mean the same. Can get confusing other times.

Seems to me it’s just getting down to the point where good Alaskans take notice.

My buddy lives in Kenny Lake. Said the needle on his thermometer hasn't moved off of -43 in 3 days. Well that was a couple days ago, so maybe it went lower.

No, People don't normally go out and about when it's that cold...if they value their machinery at all. Things break at those temps.

That is not windchill. Those are actual ambient air temperatures.

The story goes that years back when they were trying to name the town..........the locals wanted to call it Ptarmigan but no one could spell it........so they decided on Chicken instead
