I'm going to head up to Lake Michigamme to try for some walleyes.

Can anyone tell me good lake access/parking, preferably on the NE end of the lake?

I will be staying near Marquette. I also would like to take a rip on the snowmachine. Prefer the straighter trails. Can anyone recommend a scenic route?

Any other tips or information about Michigamme is appreciated!

Thanks!

Kre

Father in Law lives in Michigamme. I was just there last month.

I know there's a few members on here from that area that will be able to help you out.

Should have access near Van Riper I think.

I haven’t had much luck fishing on Lake Michigamme. Although I probably just haven’t explored it enough. There are a few boat launches. Van Riper, Brown road and near the Spurr river. As far as snowmobiles. There are several straight shots on trail 8 and 5. A beautiful ride is going to Big Bay or Lanse. There are some curvy areas but it’s well worth the views. Take a day and go for a ride!!! I live in a little town right on trail 8.

Thanks for the info Yooper1978!

I'm also considering Independence Lake in Big Bay. I drove over there this fall and checked out the area. I fish walleyes and Michigamme has great potential from the looks of things. From the folks I talked to, it sounds like Independence gets a lot of pressure, especially during the ice season.

I will definitely take a rip over to Big Bay. Looks like that stretch gets the most snow...trails should be nice.

I suppose if my girlfriend lived in Escanaba, I'd consider DeNoc.
