Looks like temps when my brother in law was stationed up in Alaska(Mid 80s I think) and the temps were -60 for a very long stretch.He said everything was freezing up.Block heaters were a must,,and a lot of folks just tried to keep their vehicles running.

Cold spells happen every winter. Saw +39 on Dec 26 and -58 on Jan 2. Big difference

Brad, I am betting that even one night that low in a feed yard or back grounding pens and everything would hurt by the time you figured out how to get everybody water and fčed. Unless you have been through it I doubt a man can fathom the horror of nothing workin and a couple hours worth of chores taking 16 hours

Very dangerous business for sure. Back in the cold snap of 1989 a guy here got some fuel oil on his gloves while trying to clear a blocked filter. Lost all his fingers in just a minute or two.

Trucks sold surplus from the pipeline had a few miles but tons of idle hours since they ran 24/7 all winter.


I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!
