They will work fine.You can add some weight to the chain,so they deep 6 quickly. When caught they will jump into the water. Tom

The added weight just makes for a sure thing,also helps in making sure they do not climb back onto the floats. Also If there is vegetation --the added weight can also be a help. Tom

Duck decoy weights, small slabs from cut up bed frame are items I have attached with a wire to help drown muskrats. You don’t need too much more weight. If you find them sitting on the floats the next morning, add more.

The #1 coil is very light.As mentioned by hugo--decoy weights work well. I have used the mushroom type before,with good results. Tom
