A bit early for numbers from this group. I think they still use an abacus to figure averages. smile

I knew fur was in the crapper but what happened to castor prices? Is that accurate?

Maybe the castor was sloppy wet and the weight/price got discounted. It also doesn’t say how much castor was offered. Maybe it was a small amount, not enough to attract much interest.

Numbers alone don’t tell the whole story. Yet that is all some people look at before they panic.

Wallfur - are you saying that you bought castor for roughly $20.00 a pound less than castor was selling for last season. If I bought something that cheap, I wouldn’t be talking about it. I’d take my nice profit and smile all the way to the bank. Just saying. smile

At these auctions sometimes a buyer can look around and see if he has any competition and then bid accordingly. I'd do the same in their position.

$20 less?
Some was green
Some was hulls
Some was dried hard as a rock and moldy
From I’ve seen in the castor market so far this year, most have backed off
Will see how the market plays out this year
