This is my first year trapping and I've already got 2 minks this year!
This second one I got all by myself.
I have not gotten anything in weeks this made me very happy.

Very cool catch. Congratulations.

Was that a cubby set in the grass? Or under ice?

Outstanding! Took me about 15 years to catch my first mink. And, I've still only caught one of them.

Good job, man!

Nice catch, you just never forget that first one.

The first one I caught was a Ranch Mink, I thought it was a different color I went and seen the ranch owner and he gave me a stretcher
and said some escaped 7 months ago. He did not think they would make it on their own.

Caught it in a Conibear trap.

I was with a very experienced trapper and he had a live mink in a trap, his way of dispatching it was to grab it and bend the neck. Well this mink did not like that routine and SPRAYED him. I saw it and he was (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman), said he has never heard of that happening. Yes a very distinctive smell to wear for the rest of the day

Your story brought me back 50 years to the day that I caught my first mink. I will never forget it. I walked around for a week and a half, why, I don't believe that my feet ever touched the ground.
Me and my trapping buddy went to the county fairgrounds where a local buyer would show up every Saturday to buy fur.
He offered me $18.00 for that little female. I hollered SOLD!
The funny part was, while we were waiting in line on that bitter cold January day, whenever the old timer would reach into his pocket to pay a guy for his fur, he'd pull out a wad of cash big enough to choke a horse, or burn a wet mule depending on needs of that day.
Well, while he was rifling through that wad of bills to pull out the right amount, his nose was steadily running the whole time right onto that wad of cash. That money spent just the same. I told my buddy, after I was handed those wet bills, "I guess we're gonna need to find us a horse to choke. No way we can light this to burn a wet mule."
