How do you pronounce “Willys” as in Willys jeep? Willis or willies?

Will-ee. I've never heard of one of the old combat jeeps being called a "Will-iss"

This^^^^. Had a 51 Willy's Jeep. Wife and I had a agreement that we could spend a hundred dollars without running it past one another. Bought it for 700.00 without talking to her about it first and ended up in the dog house for a spell. Willeez.....

When I was a kid there were a lot of those surplus WILLEE's jeeps around. They were cheap for awhile. Guys even pulled plows with them. There was a buick straight 6 engine that would bolt right in. Give one more horsepower than the 4 cylinder flathead they had. Lots of people swapped the engines out. My great uncle bought an international scout in the early 60's. That thing sure impressed everybody. Could haul out a couple deer and four people without anybody sitting on dead deer.

This was my grandpa's 47 Willys. He swapped in a flathead 8, yes, 8 cylinder. Beefed up the front suspension. Used for mule deer hunting in CO in the late 50s and 60s.

Those old Scouts were awesome. I temporarily stole one once back in the day, it was the Travelall.
