Patrick the green prices included carcass critters that I’d bet went to taxidermist. Many times these bring more money and throw the averages out of wack, especially on just a handful of animals. I’ve seen this numerous times at Missouri’s fur auction.

The one $7 dollar one was damaged, the rest sold for $18ea.

Yes I realize that, but just thought it interesting that every fox sold for $18, must be a specific market for them to all be worth the same dollars.

It's possible the 13 all sold as one lot. I don't know for sure I wasn't there.

Otter, skunks and bobcats are popular with the tourist/craft market. Those buyers are always interested in pelts with feet and are willing to pay more than a fur buyer can pay.

One thing to keep in mind on the craft/tourist and taxidermy markets is that those buyers are able to set the price they sell their goods for. They know their customers and know what they are willing to pay. A fur buyer isn’t that fortunate. He is most likely buying on a commission or a preset price and is limited as to what he can pay.

Pretty low castor price. But it may have been handled wrong or nothing but shells or green. Hope that wasn't for properly handled and dried castors

About the finished cats 7 of them were donated they were LM to Large FLAT females with bad bellys. You need to be there to know what is going on.The skunks went to the tanners as did the red fox and grey fox and badgers.

Thanks Clay. I don't know the ins and outs of those local type auctions. I wasn't even considering carcass critters being offered. That was a very small amount of pelts/critters for an auction.

It's interesting that green skunks brought 3 times what finished mink did.

I have nothing clever to put here.

I need to insulate my barn ceiling soon. It looks like coon skins might be the most economical insulation on the market.

Yes nothing like going all natural on the insulation. Nice home for the mice as well, they will appreciate your generosity.

Enough of a sampling for me to be a believer. My PA Coon were always worth way less than Iowa coon. Granted. it was low numbers but maybe in-line with the amount of trappers out in the field.
