id definitly replace the fuel filter well just because its super easy and like 10 to 15 bucks. there thats my 2 cents weather ya wanted it or not lol.

one question i have for you dakotaboy is why are you draining the coolant to install a block heater normally they are outside of the engine on the oil pan or side of the block. there may be a different kind of block heater ive never dealt with before is why i am asking. thanks

Yep, fix the problem you know is there, the battery, and replace the fuel filter Which is a maintenance item even if that's not the problem.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought it was necessary to drain coolant to install a block heater like this that replaces a freeze plug?

You would be correct DakotaBoy and that's the best kind. A couple hours early morning works wonders. The one's he's talking about is a magnetic type that just sticks to the outside of the engine.
Freeze plugs are a bugger to get to and you might learn to cuss.
