Looking at upgrading the downriggers on my boat, wanting electric ones. What does everyone use?

im just a po boy i have cannon cranks.... old ones on there 3 boat for me.... we dont get to use em much here just after the salmon in fall on oahe!! but i snap them on and i think it makes my boat look cool.... my wife hates them !!..

I bought 89 pounds of lead last week for $25.00, that came with a Hilts Molds BSE-3 10 Downrigger Screw Eye Mold and some steel electrical component molds. It makes a cannonball weight with a fin. Do you still use downrigger weights with an electric downrigger?

I run all cannon electric down riggers...
I run 2 mag 10 with telescopic booms ....
And 2 mag 10 digit troll with 4foot stainless booms ..
I can run 2 rods per down rigger ..it can get reel busy at times ....

I found these , years ago and updated my hand cranks
I found all my down riggers used , years ago ...all with swivel plates

I used to fish Lake Ontario for king salmon, and when you get a big one on ,
You just push buttons and all down riggers are coming up..handy at times ...

of course.... its just power instead of cranking ya fishem them the same

i dont mind reeling mine up..... kinda like i dont have a electric toothbrush !!!

Cannons are an ok product for sure. If you want the real deal buy magnum stuff.

I run 3 off of my tub, cannon unitroll with 13lb weights, doesn't bother me cranking em up.

I had Penn electrics on my boat and I really liked them. Whatever you get, make sure it has the auto stop feature.

Look at Cisco fishing systems.

We have run Scotty for a long time. Simple design, simple operation, great price, great customer service, fastest downrigger I know of. Ours see little love and hard use. The only issue I've had is some mis counts annoyance with the replacement readers. Magnum Metalzs and Traxtech are also very nice and have more bells and whistles. If we were to change it would be to one of them.

Do you also use wire line? We used it in the ocean for strippers.

So I'm looking at the Scotty 1116 pro pack, any reason I should look at something else? What does Cannon offer over the Scotty brand?

You should look at Magnum metalz best downrigger out there and made in the USA.

Those get spendy quick

Last rigger you buy, customer service is spot on. Magnums are nice and quality built, no plastic bs

Besides, downriggers will be the cheapest part of your trolling adventure anyway.
