HOUSE BILL 725
A bill was submitted 1/12/22 to amend the current Virginia Trapping Regulations. The revision is found in item #10. It states that it shall be unlawful to "Trap with any sized steel-jaw trap."
We need the VTA membership and affiliates to start contacting their representatives and let them know that we do not support this in any way shape or form.

There is also a proposed bill (has yet to be submitted) that would outlaw the use of snares.

That's not good. Glad we have a republican Governor this go around. Already called my representative.

I trap in VA, ADC Beaver work. I us footholds about 90% of the time. One of our biggest supporters will be the timber companies. Any town or Agriculture, county soil and water drainages. I will be making calls tomorrow.

Antis tried this in NC with bodygrips. Big timber companies and their lobbyist killed it. That's the best way to head this off. They have the pull and money we never will

VA is having the roll over of pollical offices so I am not sure how long this information will be accurate. I have contacted two timber companies. District, county, and city drainage board members should be contacted. If you know the folks please post their information.

Knew without looking she had to be from northern part of the state. Sent Emily a mail this morning, she's a good one for us!

I contacted the state darymens, state black angus, and state poultry growers associations as well they could be important allies in this.

Tony Wilt and Chris Runion would be good to contact. They are both avid sportsman.

Our wildlife department needs to get ahead of this thing. Beavers are out of control and trapping is the tool to limit their numbers. Cage traps just wont cut it.

Just a heads up the VTA governing board is already working on fighting this the VDGIF is not for this but we do need everyone to pick up the phone. I myself will be doing the same this week and trying to get some meetings set up.

Great to hear, I fired off a personalized email to somebody there in the VA Senate about why the bill was flawed logic and had no place . This is two wins in short period, great to see this.
