I do at times heavily blend traps with vegetation, but it’s more than likely going to be a blind set in place that is already vegetated and they’re traveling. Shallow runs, drains near grassy crossovers, etc. If there is a levee crossover being used but I would like a little blocking or blending, I’ll uproot rice or other grass clumps to conceal it/lightly block it. It’s not to force but to suggest and conceal.

I tend to use what’s naturally there when it comes to vegetation. Dive sticks and such move around all the time, so I’ll use them anywhere I need to without hesitation.

It is my opinion that where you choose to make sets (natural or created) is one of the most important decisions you’ll make.

That's what I was hoping for with that set. I'm thinking he comes down from further up in the swamp down the channel to check on this part of the dam and seem like he'd just float right into it. And yeah they have been messed with. Land owner tries to shoot em at night with a flash light rip up the (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman) ect but no real trapping so I got that going for me. Honestly though just looking at activity I think it just one in the swamp. It's right next to a creek too so maybe he's just maintaining the dam ?

I didn't realize that was a dam break. I thought a channel up onto high ground.

Go and tear a hole In the dam and see what happens. No reason to blow the dam If the beaver are still there.

Perfect. Looks like a natural narrow spot, why, I'd be tempted to see if my head would fit in there if I was walking through. smile
I trap beavers until I catch the last one. Nuisance control. I spend most of my time looking for natural narrow spots that beaver use every day, rather than try to create something that isn't supposed to be there.
I look at it this way. A beaver works in a relatively small area every day of its life. It knows every run, crossover, stump, bump, and weed. Once you change something, an old wary one will become suspicious and may avoid it altogether or attack it with his tail. Then you are in deep doodoo. I've had them climb a steep, slick, mud bank to avoid a 330 which it previously clobbered and knew that it was bad news.

Just about all of it was water weeds and the like already floating around just jammed some sticks to kind keep it all in place. Think there's only one beaver in here since it takes about a week for any holes I bust to get plugged so figured it can't hurt

Do you think the beaver is swimming under that log in the bottom pic? If the beaver is trap shy that would be a great spot

Till that day.....

Great idea! Worked for a square shy beaver l had last fall, where most spots were too shallow for footholds.

I learned a long time ago When trail setting coon that a wide open 160 with no camo or trying to disguise the trap was the way to go. The more I tried to disguise the trap the more refusals I got.

Wolfe if that first picture is a dam break I would not use a 330 but a foot hold or two . If he comes to fix that dam he is apt to have a stick in his clutches with a foot or more sticking out front. Bam ! Square shy beaver.
