Last year I came down with Stain Myopathy (Muscle weakness) from taking Lipitor. I am gaining my strength back some but now I cannot set some of my bigger double long springs. I intend to use these for wolves. Is there a trap setter available or will I just need to use C clamps?

Couple options

I’ve used the sleepy creeks. They work well and are easy to carry, but the clip is really, really easy to lose. Order extra clips or make something similar at home. For your use, presumably being land trapping, the step down would probably be a better option, but that’s your call

Very much appreciated! Sorry for being ignorant on these, just never used a trap setter for anything in 55 seasons. For body grips I always just used a rope. But then I seldom used body grips.

RTS setter works on long springs too, but you still need to keep up with clips for the spring

I bought 2of these , put one on and leave it there with rhe safety clip hooked, use the other one to set trap. That way you don't have to mess with the U clips

I use the #3 and #4 Sleepy Creek setters for everything. Including sometimes for the #110's especially if I have a few to set. I guess that I am a "Weakling". But that is OK because I do not have to prove anything to myself.

I use the same style setters as Dustytinner.
They're called "Bridger Longspring Trap Setters"
I've tried other setters for DLS traps and these work the best for me.

I've used the sleepy creek setters and they work (a bit interesting using them with the little u-clip to release a nontarget by yourself) but I bought two of the Jiffy trap setters (they say they are for smaller traps, but they work on Sleepy Creek 4 1/2s fine) and like them better. Again, get two and use one on each spring.

I've never seen the ones like Dustytinner shows, but they look like they would work good with two, if the safety hooks hold the springs comressed far enough.

I've used 2 large vicegrips when i usedto set my #44 double undersprings never tried longsprings

I like the looks of the setters in dustytinner's post but they show unavailable from Schmitt Enterprises.

I did a search, looks like Montgomery fur and Sterling fur have them. Might wanna check the out. Ive done business with Sterling before. Im sure others have done business with
Montgomery before.
Montgomery also has the jiffy trap setters.
