Was upstairs cleaning off the ammo shelf putting some cals. Away for long term storage. Came across an old, full, brand new, yellow, w/red x, box of 32 long colt. Price 3.65. I don't even remember owning a gun in that cal. Might be why it's there. Just thought the price was interesting.
Case.

32 colt is different. You can shoot 32 S&W short, long or 32 mags in yours.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Was never sure so I've just stuck with shorts not that I ever shot it much but it was the first gun my dad ever bought when he was 20.

Well, I may have misunderstood you when you said "32 H&R". Is the GUN brand H&R or is the caliber marking "32 H&R"?

I have nothing clever to put here.

I have a Stevens favorite in 32 long. Right next door to impossible to find ammo for it.

I remember when H&R got together with a ammo co. In the 80's I think, to make a gun in the mag. config. Thay just made the 32 smith case longer, if my memory is correct. Check it out before shooting any ammo in the gun. Just my opinion of course.

I don't think 32 colt and 32 smith are the same due to patent fights.

I used to have an old colt police positive that shot that. It was a fun little gun, but I was never able to find cheap ammo for it, and I didnt really have a purpose for it, so I sold it.

H&R is the brand little cheap snub nose revolver marked "32 cal "on the barrel

IIRC, the colt rounds used a heel based bullet (like 22lr) which made the cases smaller in diameter than a same caliber round that didn't use heel base bullets.

That would make a 32 colt definitely different than the S&W based 32s.

A good friend died a couple years ago. His widow gave me this and the ammo. I have never shot it. Don’t see where a caliber is marked anywhere on it. The cartridges fit in the cylinder.
