So outta the three what's eveyones favorite beaver steel ? Looking at these the because their traps I actually handled and found easy to set over my knee. The mb750 and bridger 5....... I'm not saying their a bad traps what so ever I know alot of people love them and their proven, just I can't set them easily at all and I'm just not comfortable with them being as strong as they are ( yeah I'm kinda wuss laugh ). So what's the good the bad the ugly ? Mods ?

CDRs for me. All of mine are the older ones though, not sure how the quality is on the new ones.

My experience is the Duke #5 LS is a fine beaver foothold...I only have 2, but I really like em. The longsring beds better in mud.

I own one TS85. Have caught a few beaver in it. The larger jawspread seems to be better to grab/target that back foot, but something about the trap seems too weak.

I just acquired a CDR. Have no experience....yet. But I like the trap's smaller pan to center the foot and wire levers to lift thru mud and muck fast. Well built trap.

I have several MB750s. Very strong springs....have to use setters. Smaller pan =good. Beaver catching machine.

Have several Bridger 5 coilsprings. Pan is a little big but overall it is a good beaver catcher. I reach for them regularly. Can set over knee rather easily.

Also have a few NoBS Beaver Extremes. Very heavy built. Pan is a bit too large for my liking but its a beaver catcher and holder. Jaws lock up well. Got to get down on it em to set on knee.

I have both Bridger and Duke #5 longs... Most coils for beaver are 4 coiled and that's out per the wording in our regs. And the TS-85 exceeds our 8" jawspread limit.

So the #5 longs aren't really a "choice" but more of a "lack of options" for me. But both the Duke and the Bridger catch and hold beaver quite well. Setting them over my knee is easy, but I'm 6'+ and 230 or so pounds... The real challenge is getting a big double long off of a beaver's foot after it's dead and stiff. I carry setters for just that reason.

The Bridger #5 long has an inside jawspread of roughly 7¼". The Duke is a true 7½" inside. But the nod for quality goes to the Bridger... They just seem to be built with a little more quality.

I have CRD's and NoBs beaver traps. Both have positive aspects the other doesn't. Both traps are great. CRDs you had better have setters. Both traps when they close, something is in them.

I have some mb 750s good trap but probably would not buy anymore-not being able to lift jaw while setting I don’t like.T S 85 is a no for me.CDR 7.5 of coarse the best trap costs the most.Nice that you can set at home put in a 5 gallon bucket not have to deal with it when putting out a line.Actually the #5 bridger coilspring is a beaver catching machine.

I like the Bridger 5. I have a few of everything, but am more comfortable with the loose jaw. I kneel on one leever and use one hand on the other. Easy for me and i can set all day. I do trap in the hills so always have dry ground a few steps away.

CDR hands down. I’ve tried them all except the NO-BS and the TS 85.
They’re expensive, but well worth it.
