What is the history of this trap? I know it was designed and first built by trappers in Ohio.
But, who then bought the trap manufacturing rights after that, and after that?
What are the distinguishing pan stampings and/or other design features for each manufacturer?
Does WCS own the rights now and what is the reason for the lack of availablity?
The CDR I just acquired has Adirondax Mfg, Cherry Valley, NY in the pan.

Back around 1998 or 1999, Carl Jones contacted me and asked if I'd test a proto-type beaver trap that he and two others were making. I said sure, and he got six of them to me. These proto-types aren't much like the final product, but they worked well. They had serial numbers stamped on the base. Here's one of them. When they came out with the final product, I sold them through my catalog and at conventions. When they sold the rights to the trap, there was a lag in production, and I quit carrying them. I believe a fella by the name of Beauregard (SP?)bought the rights. Sometime later WCS started producing them. I'm not sure of the dates these later events occurred. I'm only familiar with the start up, because I was involved.

KB made the CDR's for a while before he dissappeared into the mountains. Not sure who is making them for WCS now. I think the base may of been a bit different with the KB ones but havent seen those in a while. All the ones I have are the original CDRs

I'm pretty sure it was owned by Kurt Beauregard at one time. He is the owner and inventor of the KB 550 and the KB stabilizer. Both excellent products.

So...is the pan stamping "Adirondax Mfg, Cherry Hill, NY" referring to Kurt Beauregard's company? Hence the CDRs he made?
I see those pictured on Wildlife Control Supplies website have their logo on the pan.
Anyone know when production/distribution to dealers will restart?

I just talked to someone from coon creek outfitters. He says he has enough parts to make 3000 cdr’s but doesn’t have the time to put them together. They are talking about hiring a company to do it. Maybe they should sell them at a discount as "kits"

Kurt and Alan were partners on the CDR, they split about the time Kurt quit making his trap and he sold the Stablizer. I would like to see him start making those KB's again, they really opened my eyes as to what makes a trap function well. As far as I know Kurt didn't have a partner on the KB or his other products, he had a neat deal for bending drags I did thousands of them when he first started made other products---staple rake, sifter(with a slide bottom), boot hanger, fur hangers, bear snare thrower etc
