Want to run this idea I have. I’m gonna add a 5# window weight on the back of my drags, figure they will dig in better. What do you guys think?

In my Columbia river anchor changing the pitch or adding more line worked without the added weight to pull

Tracker Plus is hands down the best drag i ever used.

both points dig in due to a pivot

Chain length is just as important as drag weight. More is better. What are you using for drags? I wouldn't necessarily add weight to the back of the drag, just one more thing to carry or get tangled.

These are 8lbs and won't go far. Intent is a portable anchor, not a drag to get off the site. I'll have another batch ready soon if you are interested. Can probably arrange a pickup in Lewiston or somewhere close, depending on where you're trapping.

If you're wanting to makes some that dig really well and are heavy but cheap and compact
Doubled 5/8's rebar 3/8's cold roll prongs. Really sharpen your points with a flap disk and peen you prongs INWARDS. Eveyone who tries to copy my drags and say they don't work don't do a good job at all with sharpening or they point their tips outwards. The points inwards create a natural corkscrew effect and they dig much much better then a drag heavier without these traits.

Haven been able to test them against a coyote but.....well let's just say similar sized animals don't get very far at all with these and that's with them trying to go down a red clay two track

While weight will help to keep a drag on the ground, chain length and attach angle of the drap points result in quicker hang-ups and more trail sign in my opinion. No need to carry extra weight unless you want to and you're trapping out of your vehicle especially for us older gentlemen.

You will be amazed how far a few coyotes can get wolfie. I like your drag idea. Not bad mouthing it. That Conners drag both points are digging in constantly. Leaves a lot of sign and wears animals out fast. When the ground is froze and that prehooked drag comes loose (it happens) sign can be hard to come by. Snow after the catch is a problem too. anything that tires the animal fast and hangs up easy is a good thing.

Danny,

What pound drags are you using of JC Conner's? I have some of the 3 lbers that are the Tracker Pro Pivots and I love them. Just wondering if you had any of the 4 lbers?

Just me but I would use longer chains the wieght does help a litte be really just more to carry.
