Caught this old female. I don’t know how to age by teeth but I think 6-7 years old. She was looking for a dentist but found a NO BS K9 Extreme bracelet and she got a lobotomy

Age with the lower canine. You will need to send it off but they cut it in half, and count the rings like a tree. Bear we use the premolar.

That’s pretty cool if she is that old, I have no idea. It’s still cool to catch an old female.
From the tracks she was caught early in the evening. The trap was salted in, it got down to single digits that night. The mud was frozen solid. I had to hit with hammer to free the trap.

So... what was the bait lure urine that fooled that old girl?

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Reuwsaat's Deep Creek Coyote Gland Lure
Cavens coyote urine
A simple flat set at the base of a chunk of tree limb. The set was along an old logging road
Trap was a NO BS K9 Extreme 4 coil
You can see the limb chunk in the picture below

I'm guessing it's maybe 9-10 years old, but hard to really say.

I caught an old dog coyote in January 1992 that had a collar on it that had been put on it as an adult in 1979, making it a minimum of 13 years 10 months old (according to the biologist that had collared it) It had 2 teeth, one on front, and one on back of its mouth, on opposite sides.

I'm not trying to one up you, because its a great catch, and is great breeding female to get rid of!

If someone can suggest a reasonably priced place to get the tooth aged, I have several from this winter that are similar, and I'd like to get a few aged. 2 have no canines at all.

Thanks, John

That's a great story and one old coyote. I appreciate the story and the thought of being "One Up'd" never crossed my mind.
