Another crazy catch this after. Trail is in between a brush pile and a creek.

Must have been one smart tough rabbit, told that mink " I'll decide my fate buddy, we are both going out! "

What size trap was that?

Very interesting they were both able to get far enough in for that kind of strike

It's a 257, made by Tman member Ack. It's not quite 5in tall by 7in wide.

They both definitely filled the trap for the most part.
Here is another catch just 19 earlier in case you missed my post on it. [Linked Image]

That’s interesting. I know those traps. He mailed me some that he made. They’re on my wall actually and are a proud part of my collection. Traded him a box of satsumas for them wink

Caught a mink carrying a mudpuppy once it was a surprise finding them both.

I caught a mink and fox squirrel together in a 330 that was set in a beaver run 100 yards from nearest land or trees. I figure the mink got the squirrel and was taking out into the marsh by swimming it down the beaver channel.

Mink are weird with rabbits. I once heard a rabbit squeeling for over a minute and finally walked up on the commotion and as I got within a few a feet a big buck mink ran by, actually brushing my leg. Shortly after that, the rabbit came running right behind the mink. As this was all happening another rabbit ran out out of the brush from the other direction apparently looking for the fight. Both rabbits saw me and disappeared, but the mink kept running around not even noticing or caring that I was there.
Eventually I went over to the tall grass where the original squeeling was happening and there was a clear matted down patch of grass about 2 feet diameter, and just a couple small tufts of rabbit fur, and nothing else. No blood, no nothing. And the rabbit seemed fine as it ran by me and then away into the brush. After maybe a minute and half of that rabbit squawking, it was apparently unharmed. And it ran toward the mink, not away from it.
