Ask her to please not burn it, she should either sell it or donate it to a museum. Lots of soldiers in WWII brought these pennants home and are still in family collections. One of my great uncles who chased the vaunted desert fox around Africa, brought home a flag that was draped on one of the Panzer tanks.

I believe it's a Kriegsmarine naval pennant. Many WW2 German collectors can be found at gun shows etc, and would pay good money for it.

Google "Nazi WW@ triangle pennant" and check it out, I found a pic of that item listed as a "Fender Pennant", like on the front of staff cars, and listed as $225, FWIW.

I will buy it. Most museums will not except it for two reasons. They will either find it offensive or to common. It would be more appreciated by a collector.

Law Enforcement would most definitely label mailing a NAZI pendant, unsolicited, to a Jewish or black person as a hate crime, especially if the person is famous. I don't think there should be a hate crime designation for any crime, but there is definitely other crimes that would cover mailing it, that should apply, that are right to apply.

Like it or not it is part of our history so suggest she not burn it. Those who forget our past are likely to repeat it.

My father in law gave my wife his very large Nazi flag that he brought back from WWII. Also an officers dagger. I am a teacher of History and destroying history we can teach from is wrong. Getting rid of it does not make it go away, maybe it helps us forget so we can allow it to return. I take these items into class every year and show them to our students. The flag was signed by his platoon. To my knowledge it has not made any of my students Nazis in fact the opposite. We also teach genocide the holocaust etc. If we are concerned about socialism and communism our young people better understand why it evil and so many gave their lives to stop it.
My students understand the greatest generation and who real heroes are.

My great uncle fought in Europe. I don't know if he brought home any "trophies." But if he did I wouldn't even begin to entertain the thought of burning it or throwing it away... Seems like it would be a serious disrespect to the memory of the sacrifice he made.

Right on, Mike. The men, maybe a few ladies, who survived the war and brought back souvenirs deserve to be respected. Those souvenirs should be family heirlooms! Something to remember their time, their suffering, and their sacrifices. Even the ones who survived gave a lot.
My father was just old enough to get into the navy and serve in the pacific the last year and a half of the war. He brought back a Japanese rifle. I made the mistake of not asking to keep it. Wish I had it now as an extra item to remember him by.

3 options destroy it , sell it to a collector or donate it possibly to the world war 2 museum in New Orleans. It all depends on their motive.

I bet if it were a Rising Sun flag nothing would be thought of it?? My Grandfather brought back a silk swastika flag and a couple of german bayonets. I'd keep it after the relative probably carried it all over Europe.

I’d bet you that it’s not from overseas. The third reich had overwhelming support in the United States at one time.
