Thank you for SUPPORTING THE OPPOSITION OF COLORADO SB 031
I share the below website and information regarding Colorado SB 22-031, which would have outlawed hunting and trapping of bobcat, lynx and mountain lion in Colorado. This information has been put together by CRWM - Coloradans for Responsible Wildlife Management.
For more information on what you can do or updates on what is going on:
http://savethehuntcolorado.com/THANK YOU TO ALL who sent emails, letters or made phone calls, to those who showed up or tuned in, or those who gave generously. The Bill was defeated in committee!
Without going into particulars, we want anyone who thinks that wildlife should be managed by scientific wildlife experts, and not value-advocate legislators, to send the message to the committee in Colorado where Senate Bill 031 is a legislative attempt to end the hunting of mountain lion, bobcat, and lynx in Colorado.
It is a clear and simple attempt to use the legislative committee process to undermine the experts we hired to manage wildlife. If this succeeds, we will have state senators, with zero wildlife expertise, push their sectarian values onto the management of wildlife.
If this type of subversion succeeds, we will see a major shift in how wildlife is managed, from expert biologists to advocacy politicians. And we all know how well politicians manage things.
What next? Senators prescribing our medication?
HSUS and similar types are bombarding the committee with emails. Can we sit back and watch this?
We need everyone to write the legislators listed below!
Things to include in the email would be:
--Please OPPOSE Colorado bill SB 031
--Some form of relevancy (i.e., I used to hunt there…or live there, etc.; I enjoy traveling there: I have family there, I hope to take my family there next summer, etc. etc.)
--Language to the effect that:
All 50 states hire experts to manage wildlife through science and data management.
These people spend their lifetimes researching how best to manage wildlife.
The North American Model for wildlife management has been wildly successful for nearly a century, giving the United States one of the most robust wildlife systems of anywhere in the world.
Please be polite and respectful.
Repost or share this wherever outdoors people get their news!
