Curious on the Bridger no.5. Why is the lamination on the outside edge of the jaw? Or am I just seeing things?

That would strengthen the jaws so they don't flex and still allow a thin sharper edge to better hold on a slippery tapered foot of a beaver.

The wide jaws on the Duke could be bad for holding power but it looks like spring strength may overcome that. The guy ain't too bright dry firing those cast jaws IMO.

WAY easier to set. I told you that already. They have long levers and weak springs so they are easy to open and set. Easier than a real strong 1.5 coil. That is the two coil traps. Its also why so many hate them because they are apparently magic and work great for one guy and the next guy can't keep more that 50% of the beaver in them. Hopefully, you'll be in the first group that they work for, you seem lucky like that.

Myself, I'll try the Duke 850 if I ever seen a need or have a desire to buy more beaver footholds. I don't take people's word for anything, I always learn the hard way, always been that way. lol

Thanks for heads up, I heard enough already , easier to set then a new 1.5, an 2 coil springs , 50 per cent say no good, definately noway buy ts-85

Well if we are going old school, I have always preferred the B&L #44 double underspring to the victor 14...Just my opinion...

Then I'd buy what you know and are used to. Instead of coming here and getting a tone of replys from several people and making up your mind without even trying a trap.

Dave, Keep in mind some people might have really weak 1.5 coil spring traps. You never know until you try something for yourself. I think you should reconsider the TS85's.

Then you will never know. Meet me in Chelsea iowa at Bruce Rhoades in March. I'll loan you a 2 cooked and a 4 coiled ts85 for you to try. You will still have a month to trap.

Well, I got a couple Bridger 5s coming in the mail. Biggest foothold I will have by far, I hope they make a difference!
