I don't know that Putin even wants to invade Ukraine. If Putin wanted to invade Ukraine, he would have invaided Ukraine. Instead, he put on a big show of staging troops at the border. No invading army would give prior warning to give their enemy time to prepare or time to get Ukraine's allies involved.

Putin wants NATO to stop expanding eastward. Ukraine was likely going to be admitted to NATO which would have put NATO at Russia's border. I suspect that there will be an agreement for no eastward expansion of NATO in exchange for Russia leaving Ukraine alone.

Putin bluffed and will probably win the game.

Saber rattling is what this is. Nothing more. Putin will get more from this than he would from actually invading. He, more than anyone alive knows that Brandon is bought and paid for. He has the receipts.

I don't know how allowing Ukraine into NATO would be much more different than the USSR putting missiles in Cuba.

This is the weakest the U.S. has ever been. If there was a world war between the U.S. and Russia (and maybe China throwing in), there would likely be foreign troops on the U.S. soil.

I go to a church that is mostly Russians along with several Ukrainians.
The interesting thing about this current Russia/Ukraine fiasco is that hardly any of these people who I know are all that concerned. It's more or less just given a big yawn.

The only concern is among the younger Russian guys (most of them born here) is they are regular US citizens, but they also hold Russian passports as dual citizens.
These guys go to Russia periodically to visit cousins and friends. They are concerned that it is entirely possible for them to be drafted into the Russian military. That could be an awkward situation.

Maybe we should just stay out of it.
