What caliber was that taken with? Looked like almost no recoil.
Bet that was a tasty, welcome meal!

Just doing what I want now.

That is pretty nice of those sheep to winter in such easy terrain for you! Some great table fare there.

Alaska Viking:. I'll have ask Samuel about his gun and get back to you. Pulled out some sheep for supper tonight sure beats store bought meat.

I was surprised you found them so low. Is that a normal wintering ground for them? Nice work!

Bronko: that is the top our mountains top out at about 1500'. They gradually increase to about 3000' at the continental divide but it's mostly slope country. Most of the sheep are in that front range.

Nice vid. Over the years you have been showing us your vids I believe you have shot moose, caribou, musk ox, and now sheep. Have also seen you get, I think, Beluga and seal. Fall and spring you get waterfowl. With all that opportunity, did you actually run out of game meat?
I assume there must be some non natives in your town. Do they get the same hunting opportunities you do.
Here it's mostly all the same for land animals, but non natives can't hunt marine mammals. Also, if it's anything like here where you live, every household has a good supply of seal oil!

Boco: I totally would but it would probably spoil by the time it got to you. It almost all gone anyways. Not a lot of meat on a sheep.

Martentrapper: our land claim is different than the one in Alaska. Most hunting opportunity is restricted for non natives. But there are ways for them to harvest what they need. It's just more dependent on the will of the local wildlife boards. In most cases if a guy is respectfully and asks politely they will allow them to harvest. Much like asking a farmer to harvest in his feilds.

Wild sheep is absolutely nothing like stinky mutton. It is one of the best (if not the best) tasting wild meats to be found.

Waggler: Got some sheep backstrap in the slow cooker for supper tonight.

Martentrapper had a list of stuff I have posted videos about harvesting. List of animals I really want to harvest: Cougar, there was a cougar spotted about a decade back, and im pretty sure I saw one about 8 years ago. Hope I'm not like Uncle Si and his black panther sightings. Marten, I have caught a few but I have never found a glory hole where I can catch a bunch. Mountain Goat I don't think there are any anywhere near me but there is traditional knowledge stories of mountain goat and marmot up in the British mountains of Ivavvik National Park near the Alaska border. Coyote I actualy hope to never catch another one of those.

Got any forests within economic distance that have burned in last 10 years? Voles often increase their numbers after a fire and marten follow.
