...the 6.4 engine have always ran the 5.7...gotta chance to swap my truck in-for more money than I paid for it...dealer has a newer truck with the 6.4.
Thanks ahead of time.

What engine is better 5.7 or 6.4 Hemi?
Image result
The 6.4 HEMI generally offers an extra 75-100 horsepower over the 5.7 engine. Thanks to larger displacement the 392 is also good for an extra 60-80 lb-ft. Low-end torque is also about 70 lb-ft more than the 5.7 further widening the gap between the two. ... Clearly, this saying holds true in the 5.7 vs 6.4 HEMI comparison.Aug 5, 2021

As stated, bigger/stronger motor. A little less fuel efficiency. Guess it depends on what you want...always a trade off. I guess I didn't need anything more than the 5.7 personally. To each their own, however.

I will say my 6.4 has the 8 speed tranny. I like that far better than the 6 speed I had in the 5.7. So far I see the transmission as the biggest upgrade.

I only have 28K on mine. No issues yet. Still too early to tell.

What type of fuel mileage are those engines getting?? Thought real hard about a Dodge because of price but not sure about the reliability or fuel mileage.

This is my first diesel, bought one because of heavy towing. Stripped out the exhaust, and pulled all the emissions off, and put a tow tune which included one for the trans. Amazing difference! Towing heavy I get 16-18, highway 21-22.
The 68rfe transmission is the weak link if you tune or add tall tires. If you can find one with the Aisin you'd be ahead.
Was laughing at the pump until diesel shot past unleaded grin =)

In the past, the problems were mostly with the gas trucks. The diesels were much better.

Thanks for the replies...Danvee I can only talk about the 5.7...in the warmer months in the city around 13-15
highway I had 19 one long trip. However, in the cold 10-12 in the city and 17 on the highway.

I've had 2 gas and one diesel. My last gas had a finicky computer but none of them had any issues. That said, it costs quite abit more to run the diesels (and they are a terrible off road truck). I'm on my 4th dodge (or Ram). I figure when I get a bad one I'll change brands, but at this point I can't justify paying 6-7K more for the same truck with a different name on it.

The truck 6.4 is different from the car 6.4 , nowhere near 75-100 hp over the truck 5.7.

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

The engine has to warm the oil up among other things. The fuel maybe formulated differently in the winter time.
