Gotta ask, what temp is your thermostat set on?...Got mine at 67, makes a huge difference in the bill during bitter cold.
My January bill was $163.00, heating 2000 sq ft....Home is heavily insulated though, and electric rates are probably different on the west end of the state.

In western Washington outside the metro areas (Seattle/Tacoma) I'm currently paying 9.5 cents per KWH ($0.095 per 1000 watts) on the first 600 KWH, and 11.5 cents per KWH on anything over 600. I think that might be pretty cheap compared to many other places?? Mostly all hydro generated.

You goit me curious so I went and ask the wife what our bill was. She said around $160 a month. We do the year round average. If I could convince her to do at least 50% of the clothes on the clothes line I bet it would be $100 a month. I am going to put a clothes line in the basement with the wood stove. We have one outside, but I'm the only only that will hang clothes. That clothes dryer eats money. And, if you think about it, your blowing heat out the door?????

That clothes dryer eats money. And, if you think about it, your blowing heat out the door????? They make a gizmo that sends the hot air from the clothes dryer to the living spaces through a filter. Saves mucho wasted heat. Have used one for years. Cheap , easy to install.

jybrd63- Does your utility offer "budget" where the entirety of the annual bill is averaged over 12 months, usually based on the previous year's cost? I don't get big bill single month surprise for either my electric or natural gas bill. My electric company is also a cooperative so I get some coin back from them about every 2-3 years.
