I doubt my catch rate would be affected one way or the other by switching to round square jaws. Besides, it would just feel weird.
X2 I got turned off at an early age on square jawed traps with the 1.5 NW and Montgomery that were short-notched (from the guy before me), trapping coons. They had more tripped and empty traps than ones that held anything, like 5-1. Very easy to get jaded on traps when you get those results. It didn't happen with the round jawed traps of the day. Only square traps I've tried for years was the TS85 on beaver and I got the same dismal results. I'm sure it must be operator error but it doesn't happen with MB750's so... no square jawed traps for me, with one notable exception the NW #1 sj coil, them little guys hold in my experience. Curious on why you consider the TS85 a square jaw but MB750s a round jaw? My 750s are as square as my TS85s, if not squarer.

I like both. Haven't noticed square jaws as a disadvantage. I do have more round jaw traps.

I have both. Never noticed a difference. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
