There probably aren't many songs that mention trapping. But there are a lot about guns.

Here's the lyrics from a good one...

Quote
"About the time that Daddy left to fight the big war
I saw my first pistol in the general store
In the general store, when I was thirteen
I thought it was the finest thing I ever had seen"

Name the song that includes the lyrics above.
Bonus if you post a link to listen to a good version of it.

Then post some of the lyrics of another song mentioning guns for the rest of us to guess.

What from Christ that soul can sever,
Bound by everlasting bands?
None shall take thee
From the Strength of Israel's hands.

A young cowboy named Billy Joe grew restless on the farm
A boy filled with wanderlust who really meant no harm
He changed his clothes and shined
His boots and combed his dark hair down
And his mother cried as he walked out

To the town of Agua Fria, rode a stranger one fine day
Hardly spoke to folks around him, didn't have too much to say

For the stranger there among 'em had a big iron on his hip

Far behind lay Kansas City and the, past that I had earned
Twenty, notches on my six gun marked the, lessons I had learned

He got a custom Continental
He got an Eldorado too
He got a .32 gun in his pocket for fun
He got a razor in his shoe

Well the crowd cleared away
And I began to pray
And the water fell on the floor
And I'm telling you, son
Well, it ain't no fun
Staring straight down a forty-four
Well, he turned and screamed at Linda Lou
And that's the break I was looking for
Well, you could hear me screaming a mile away
I was headed out toward the door

"Don't Take Your Guns to Town".

I notice Johnny Cash and Steve Earle both recorded each of these songs. I know the Steve Earle versions - good electric guitar duets

Here's some lyrics from one of my favorites:

Quote
Daddy's rifle in my hand
felt reassurin'
He told me,
Red means run, son,
numbers add up to nothin'
But when the first shot
hit the docks I saw it comin'
Raised my rifle to my eye
Never stopped to wonder why.
Then I saw black,
And my face splashed in the sky.

What from Christ that soul can sever,
Bound by everlasting bands?
None shall take thee
From the Strength of Israel's hands.

Mama, put my guns in the ground
I can't shoot them anymore
That long black cloud is comin' down

Put my gun down, the war is won
Fill my glass high, the time has come
I'm goin' back to the place that I love
______ ______

______ ______, ______ ______ is in my mind and in my eyes
______ ______, ______ ______ is in my blood, it's the place I love

Got no time for explanations, got no time to lose
Tomorrow night you'll find me sleepin' underneath the moon
At ______ ______

Some folks are born, made to wave the flag
Ooo, their red, white and blue
And when the band plays "Hail to the Chief"
Ooo, they point the cannon at you, Lord

We fired our guns and the British kept a-comin'
There wasn't nigh as many as there was a while ago
We fired once more and they began to runnin'
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico

I know that one... Johnny Horton - "The Battle of New Orleans"

The Battle of New Orleans

It's a good one. I loved that song when I was a kid.

I always liked this part of the lyrics:
Quote
We fired our cannon till the barrel melted down
So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round
We filled his head with cannonballs'n powdered his behind
And when we touched the powder off,the gator lost his mind

Bound by everlasting bands?
None shall take thee
From the Strength of Israel's hands.

________ __ ___, ______, the bravest in command
Goodbye to all the soldiers who didn't give a dam()
For we're goin' back to Richmond, buddy, leavin' here today
Gonna sell our rifles for a jug and get drunk along the way

At the battle of Manasses, I had my certain chance to bravely fight the red and white and blue
I was so blasted brave I stuck branches in my pants and, yes, I played a tree 'til it was through

She reached down to pick the gun up
That lay smoking’ in his hand
She knew the gun was empty…
