Who knows but guessing it will be a buying opportunity until the Russian Ukraine issue gets settled also if the fed steps in on raising rates it will drop.

Maybe. But I wouldn't be too concerned if it does. Most market participants ignore the Dow and concentrate on S&P 500.
With everything going on at this moment I think there should be a lot more reaction than we are seeing. S&P is only down .5 % at the moment and NASDAQ is just breaking into the green.

I don't think it's time to panic yet laugh but there's a good chance we haven't seen the bottom yet either

To me it depends upon if we have an "emotional" downward scare or one caused and created by fairly significant and longer term economic issues. We have a lot of the emotional hiccups, some bigger then others and the market always reacts to those.
Now if interest rates rise and lets say they do and they are raised say 2-3 or 4 times in say 12-18 months. That will dampen the market even if the economy stays healthy, growing and strong, because now there is another viable option for investment.
If we have a major longer term ground war with major trade, shipping, blockades and disruption issues and those last months to years we could have an economic downward cycle and the market would follow as well. If the economy stagnates and things cycle down then worrying about the market is not as big of concern to me as other options are not good either.
There are always sectors of the economy that prosper no matter what cycle we go through some do very well during war time.

I am more of a Bishop's or Fajun guy.

I have nothing clever to put here.

Could be a great opportunity to buy in more if things calm down in the Ukraine.

IMO nope.
they will figure out a way to milk it through till the mid terms
if dems hold they will continue the milking.
if red wave they will make sure it falls and then blame the republicans.

Oil and gas will continue to climb.
We are headed for a switch back to using our own petroleum products.
Many futures traders have contracts for USA crude at $200 / barrel by December.

The market has three headwinds: inflation, Russa, and the fed tightening. It would be smart to take some profit and hold cash or cash equivalent instruments and let these events unfold.

Seems like the Russians are pulling back troops and the market is now swinging back up. It will still be choppy with inflation and sure to come fed moves but will simmer down.

It’s been sliding for three weeks. I remember the late 70s and early 80s. This is 10 times worse now.I just wish oil prices were lower. That one thing alone would make a big difference.
I believe it will continue to go down .

I think the Russia/Ukraine thing has already been baked in to a large degree. There are a lot of things influencing the market right now that are rather unprecedented. No one has a crystal ball. Just remember "No one knows anything about anything". By the way, there is a good, short little book about investing with that title.

Someone gave me good advice about investing.
“Where there is risk, don’t invest more than you are willing to lose.”
He held back what he thought was the family fortune, which can be different amounts at different times to different people.
He was a wise man who started with very little and ended up very comfortable.

The commodity markets are way up today and have been rising for a year now. Continued high demand, lower worldwide stocks, geopolitical issues, and the hedge funds can invest there and take monies out of the stock market or not put more in.
