I set 4 traps yesterday. All set in the same type of locations, culverts under railbeds. This is the first one I looked at today. Shows the location, the trap as it is set and the catch, 5 rats and 1 mink. I use an 18 inch by 3 foot wire on the front of the diver to block the culvert so all critters go into the trap. Trap is 4 feet long, 6 inches high and 10 inches wide with multiple doors inside to give different chambers for the animals to enter so they do not die and block the front door. As you can see the front door was still not blocked so the trap was still functional. Most rats I have caught at once in one of these setups is 19. Most mink is 5. Also will catch otter, small beaver (20 pounds or less) and fish. ALWAYS set this on the downstream side so a flood will not push the trap into the culvert and cause a plugup.

Wow that's a say to stack them up. I still haven't had more than one in a colony trap.

Eric…do you make these colony traps with wire and the clips / special pliers ? Trying to figure out the set up…in the culvert ?

Very impressive

probably we can't do culverts with colony traps in WI

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Nice haul, thanks for sharing.

I got myself a seniors' GPS.
Not only does it tell me how to get to my destination,
it tells me why I wanted to go there.

Very cool!!

Have you made a video of the whole set? If not, I think that would be a great teaching tool, especially for some us that need to see things in motion to get the whole situation.

That is very nice ! Great job !
So its not always a drowner, but sometimes ? !9 at one time ! ! ! ! WOW !
I like the internal partition idea, .
Did / do they cut one another up much, if any ?
Surprised if that mink didn't do some burger grinding.

Wish I had some rats to catch, used to enjoy it so much with my dad and mom.
Thanks

I have had 7 in my colony 8x8x36. Replaced it and had 2 more the next day.

Much more efficient.

I've had 12 In one of my colony traps. 9X9 by 36.
I just attach wings to my traps by using zip ties. If you have a 9X9 trap and add a 9X9 wing on each leading edge you can cover a area of about 30". Disclaimer. These were only used In ND culverts.
