I was just getting wood in, I picked up the piece that was covering it and it started squealing at me. Those little buggers have a mouth full of teeth. I covered it back up and it quit squealing.

A couple years ago, I was walking through my grapes in the afternoon, and I reached up to look closer at what I thought was a bunch of grapes. I touched the "bunch", and it turned into a bat. Little turd bit my fingernail, luckily, on my thumb, and flew off. Had them in the house a couple times, but that was just a mite closer than I was comfortable with! Was lucky he didn't get me on a meaty part of my hand!

Took apart a few horse barns last summer. They were all over. They hammer the bugs here so I don’t mind them [Linked Image]

Had one flying around the living room once. I went to bed and never saw it again.

I also caught one on the back cast fly fishing at dusk. Made a terrible racket. Here comes the family so I quickly reeled it in and walked it into silence against the water. It was a long time before I’d fish after dusk.

looks like a Little Brown bat
migrates and lives in colonies in caves in the north
white nose syndrome is really effecting the population now and caving and banding are not allowed
micro processors and they can detect when they are back to the caves
band recoveries=long lived 25+ years, till this disease hit....

It was gone this morning so I’m gonna say no to the hibernating.

Like seeing them but hate being surprised by them. Being a house painter, I've had many fly out from behind a shutter. Glad you didn't get bit.
