42 years ago on February 22, 1980, the US mens olympic hockey team beat the Soviets. I just watched the 1994 film Miracle on Disney+. I'm not old enough to have seen the real thing, but still got some goosebumps watching the movie.

Any of you old timers remember watching that game?

First vacation after we were married. We watched the game in a motel room in Orlando,Fla. and then went to Sea World. I remember Mark Johnson and one of the Suter brothers from WI were on that team. One of those moments where you won't forget where you were when it happened.

I lived in New York at the time and watched with friends at my house. There was quite a bit of beer drank before, during, and after the game. Very cool that the Olympics was in Lake Placid and the hosting country won.

Best hockey game we ever have watched!

Oh yeah!! Whole family watched that game! We all came off the couch at the same time yelling when we won! I was 11 hrs old.

I remember it, It made me proud to be an American. Greatest Olympic event ever in my opinion.

Too bad Americans can't beat the Russians again in hockey in more recent history.

That era was a special time for many of us.

About the only hockey I've ever actually sit and watched. A childhood memory for sure.

I just got back to the USA, (12 years over seas) a month earlier and My mom moved to Mass, had no friend yet to watch it with but was REAL proud and happy. Mom and I had a beer!!!!!.......jk

There was a hostage situation shortly after that but I don't recall the details. I do remember buttons stating "Free the hostages or else the US will send their hockey team".

What made it great was the USA team was made up of college kids amateurs , while the Russian team were basically paid professionals.
That’s why Olympic hockey doesn’t mean much today, because most players are from the NHL.

I remember in the last few minutes of the game the russians hitting the goal post at least twice with the puck.

Yes I watched every game including that one and I'm not even a hockey fan. It was an amazing moment.
