Sometimes they have the car wash entrance blocked off because of the cold temperatures. Then what?

I got myself a seniors' GPS.

I guess the silver lining is that 250 will look brand new after a car wash compared to hitting Black Ice- but it's harsh for sure!

My jeep looked like that after a trip to Wichita the other day in the snow. I went about 15 miles to a car wash a couple days later. They put you on this track thing. A couple guys with wands spray it pretty good then its all automatic including spray nozzles for the undercarriage. Helps a bunch to wash it off right away. My 14b y/o dodge has cancer from it. Thinking I will put a flat bed on it.

We had a ice storm a few days ago. Sun was out yesterday, so I was putzing in my workshop, every so often I went out moved my 3 trucks around outside so the 1/4 to 1/2 inch of ice would melt off in the sun. Then this week on a above freezing day, I can wash the salt off. Wish I could have all the carwash money I spent in a pile.....

you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

Most car washes recycle their water. This time of year you end up washing with salt water.

Some do, I don't think most. I've heard of it but don't know of any in my area that do.

Unfortunately what you truck looks like is part of the goal of using salt on the roads. The salt makes a brine when melting ice and snow. The traffic sloshes and throws that brine to other parts of the road. Then when the road is wet and traffic speed picks up, it gets thrown in the air to evaporate and dry the road. If the weather is right we try to "freeze dry" the road by letting traffic and very low humidity to speed the evaporation. Of course water is the only thing evaporated leaving the salt residues behind on the road and our vehicles.

One buddy of mine owns two carwashes and his are set up to recycle the water on wash/soap mode but uses fresh water to rinse. So rinse good!

No salt needed.

Leave a little earlier so that you can drive slower when road conditions are bad due to winter weather. Ticket people who are driving to fast for road conditions, if you see someone in the ditch or median don’t pull them out, if they have to call a tow truck they’ll learn to slow down whe the roads are slick.

Im getting to be my father’s age. Lol

Half true like I posted, there are some here that filter and reuse water for the soap cycle but they use fresh for rinse.

Spill a quart of oil in a car accident and the full Hazmat team shows up. Spill a truckload of salt right next to a freshwater stream and no one bats an eye!!
