So, I went out to inventory the pile. When i was satisfied that I could get by, i decided to sell off a bit of the unprocessed stuff. The following is my Craigslist ad: Firewood ad

Nice, seems like a good price.
Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Good deal for some folks You loading it or they have to load those big blocks themselves? Rent a splitter or give a misbehaving teenager a sledge and a couple of wedges

The conversion factor is 180 for a loose cut/split pile of firewood. Unsplit ?? Unsplit. That 180 may be true in NY, but, is 175 in Minnesota. It is pretty difficult to define actual air spaces in tossed piles, hence different definitions in different jurisdictions.

Want some more? I have a job in maple Grove and need to get rid of the logs. Probably not. That is where all this stuff came from, in the first place. Tree services. I could change my mind if you had something to offer. Such as: - Everything cut to uniform saleable length
- Everything stacked or piled according to species.

What is the quarantine zone? There is no simple answer for that other than the Metro area. There is a zone for - Emerald Ash Borer
- Dutch Elm
- Oak Wilt
- Gypsy Moth
Until I get a better handle on it myself, I am leaving it up to the customers to comply. I do know that all of the metro area and a fair sized radius around it is included.

It is pretty difficult to define actual air spaces in tossed piles, hence different definitions in different jurisdictions. I stack 16" firewood using the 180 conversion and it was dead on .20" and longer would probably be 190+

Looks like there could be some good bowl blanks in that pile !!! I'm sure there are. The problem is that i don't have the artistic insight to identify most. There was a time when I would set the promising stuff aside when i was loading the boiler. But, sooner or later that would get burnt, too. Which reminds me: I once answered a craigslist ad from a guy looking for good red streaked box elder wood. I showed him (electronically) a bunch of samples. With each correspondence he got cheaper and more demanding. He couldn't figure out why I quit responding.

We get another cold snap the phone will ring.
WS and it will really be too late for them , people think like that but highly unlikely any of that wood even sitting 2 years is ready to burn, nothing wrong with that he is not selling it as processed fire wood. I wish you well selling like that . I am interested to see how it sells for you in my experience anyone with the saw and splitter and trailer or truck to handle wood that size with a phone call or two can have all they can cut for free. please update as you sell I am curios how it goes.
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

please update as you sell I am curios how it goes. There is definitely a lot of truth in that statement. It is also true that the guy with the saw, truck/trailer, might be looking for a bulk mother lode for cheap to process. I, too am curious who the customer might be. This stuff must be gone one way or the other. i have lots of options, all of which require work, No wonder it is still hanging around. In reality, some of this wood has been sitting for up to 17 years. Plenty of fine stuff to cut split and burn in the boiler as is. Yeah the stuff on the bottom is punky. No big deal, that goes into my charcoal retort.
