A Russian friend of mine (who is married to a Ukrainian) sent this to me.
Very interesting ideas.

Just a caveat; this guy uses a couple of four letter words near the end on his monologue; I hope that doesn't get this thread axed.

I don't know if I totally agree with this guy, but he makes some very good points.

He is not justifying what Putin is doing, just explaining it.

His argument is not about whether or not Russia should be there. I think nearly everyone believes they shouldn't be.
Don't shoot the messenger.

I've been wondering some of the same things he brings up, for example;
Why has the Russian military NOT taken out the infrastructure like electricity, cell service, water, etc.. They could very easily if they wished to. Not that they are being nice, but they do have a strategy.

I heard Russia did destroy some US fund Bio labs. Maybe if we are lucky they will bomb the one in China that is US funded. I heard another guy say the US is not getting the story of what is happening over there and that if Russia takes Ukraine the Biden family will loose millions. He also said the inter country is run by Mafia.

The way he repeats himself makes me think it’s propaganda! Somewhere is the truth but where!

Putin referred to the New Nazis. How can the president of Ukraine being a Jew be a new
Nazi?

...it should be about Russian occupation...its no surprise what he is doing it right out of Putin's playbook .he done the same thing in creimia...only thing is trump put him on hold for 4 years. Or he would have done it sooner Ukraine has corruption but it should not let putin off the hook.

Take a look at who we supported through backdoor channels during the Orange and Maidan Revolutions. Some pretty hard core nationalists with history going back to the Nazis. Not that I believe we support that ideology, but they were useful for leading to a pro western government being installed.

Nailed it! The instability in the DONBAS is a direct result of the Western backed coups. This unrest has given Putin an excuse to intervene.

It's hard to call out Ukraine on corruption .....when our country is being run by the most organised crime family ever and with dnc and media to keep it in power.

This article is somewhat lengthy. Not too bad though. This entire mess goes back 30+ years and began with the dissolution of the USSR... ( BTW, I tried the FOIA links but couldn't get them to work)

https://warontherocks.com/2019/11/p...about-nato-in-1993-and-why-it-matters-2/

You can argue all day long about whether eastward expansion of NATO is a good thing... That kind of policy is above my pay grade. But we have certainly dropped the ball several times on smoothing it over with the Russians. And that has got us to where we are at now.

The Ukraine probably has in many cases better infrastructure and assets then Russia does, at least in that region of Russia, so taking the country with doing as little damage to assets as possible was probably the plan. Now that the efforts haves stalled or slowed and resistance is greater than anticipated there may be a change in plans. Now if they deliberately want to hit residential areas and kill civilians to cause the country to surrender that may be the way they can win now. I doubt if many of the strategists realized the price they are going to pay to do that. The world is also seeing that if the Russians want more territory that their abilities are not as good as many may have guessed them to be. The whole idea that Putin wants no military other than his near him is something we should think about hard. He is much like the farmer that says "he does not want to own all the land in the world just that touches his."

Good read. I can see the analogy to Germany/Hitler after WW1.

I heard you can see Russia from Alaska, would that count. Didn't they own that once upon a time.
