I bought a used tundra this past summer and somehow i didnt notice just how many rock chips are on the doors, hood, fenders ect. I really have no idea how i missed how many there were and it makes me sick. I cant for the life of me figure out how they came to be as the tires that are on it now dont stick out past anything, there are mudflaps and there is a set of nerf bars. Unless someone had some wide mudders on before i guess. Someone tried using touch up paint and did a horrible job on a few of them. My question is for body guys-what would it cost to have the doors repainted at a minimum? They are the worst. There are wayyyy too many chips to try doing a touch up kit and i see how the last guy did.

Go to any body shop and ask them to give you a ballpark figure. They will do it. It is in their best interest to do so. Heck, you could probably just call them and ask.

Then you can decide if the cost outweighs your disgust for the chips.

We need pics to do a virtual estimate….need to know the color ..is it base coat coat / clearcoat..or a 3 stage paint . If it’s black ,that’s better for a color match. If it’s any thing else …it needs to be blended into the adjacent panels, unless it’s an old clam. Any door ding will add to the bottom line.

It’s a truck. Drive it unless you’re concerned about rust.

Vehicles are costly enough. The dings and dents are why you got it so cheap! Drive it like a rental.

Aside from what it looks like nice and clean with sunlight on it, yes i am slightly concerned about rust. Its bright red, and the rock chips expose white-idk if thats primer or what. If i keep a coat of wax on it twice a year id imagine thatd help. It kind of seems like the layer of red is thinner than it should be if that makes sense.
I know its a truck and im not afraid to drive it, just seems excessive.

unfortunately red paint is super expensive. if you paint the doors you will have to blend into 2 adjacent panels. paint manufactures will only guarantee a bendable match. if its solid red with no metallic you might be able to get a good match and just paint the doors. some colors have 5 different alternates for the same paint code. probably cost you between 1000 and 1500 depending on labor rates in your area.

If I ever showed up in a truck without any rock chips or rope burns none of my friends would think it was me
