When I got the real id that would let me get on a airplane. One would think that id would get you about anywhere. Well maybe except into the movies.
Since then I've ran into Id Me.
Then ran into Medallion Signature Guarantee.

People who migrate like the birds don't have to have any ID but if you've lived here 70+ years is the same spot you still can't be trusted for who you say you are and I have to prove it at my expense. While the guy with no id has to prove nothing.

Did I mention in a Illinois Firearm Owners ID.

I think mine took about 8 weeks. Didn't they give you anything for proof of a license in case you got pulled over?

Yes, it's supposed to be valid til April 1, I believe. Just seems odd it takes so long to research you, after you give them a valid passport, 92 other forms of ID and your entire ancestral history. Yes back ground check involved for real id. Half those peole doing them are still at home. Look at one eat , look at another watch lets make a deal, Bull crap about getting on military bases . Tried to use mine at FT Knox entrance gate Nope back to visitor center and same process as before.

There's no background check involved for Real ID. I walked into a Driver's License Center with my old license, a bank statement and an electric bill and walked out 10 minutes later with my new Real ID driver's license.

You are lucky, I had all you mentioned plus social security and had to go to 2 different DVM's and finally a 60 mile trip to get a birth certificate. I ain't even had a traffic ticket in 50 yrs. Still that is not my main complaint, the fact its worthless for anything but an airplane ticket. I've never even been to a DVM to get a license sticker that it didn't take 30 min to and hour. But then Illinois is the one that used to sell CDL's for a price, lol.

I just got my license renewed the other day. The photo was black and white too. Until my new license arrived, they gave me a paper copy to carry.

No i didnt...i have a passport. I didnt want to pay the extra when I already have a passport and they wouldnt issue it that day without my birth certificate. Wish I knew ahead of time. They also tried to sell me an 8 yr license but i may not be alive in 8.

You're right, now that you mention it, I did have my birth certificate and SS card, but there is no background check. Just verify all the documents. I know some people needed to get new birth certificates because older ones didn't have a state seal on them.

My youngest cousin is a lieutenant, stationed at Ft. Knox. I told him about you not liking Ohio, Ohioans and the Ohio State University Football Team and he ordered all his men to bar you from the base.
