The birds showed up enmasse yesterday here. We had a few before that and now they are are all over here. I'm seeing and hearing mostly males. I am glad they're back. I like the birds, except when my fruits close to ripe until harvest.

If you live in the US, you have robins around all year long. They just spend most of their time in the woods during winter, usually in good sized flocks.

Red-winged black birds arrived 3 days ago. Their song is unmistakable and a very welcome tune. Geese have been swarming north for about a week.

White fronted geese, snow geese and mallards are just starting to show up here, now expecting more snow this weekend. Make them head back south.

You got me curious as ive never seen them in northern michigan during winter months. I checked maps online and it does not show them wintering in far northern areas. They would be real easy to spot in flocks in the woods if they were in fact present. Where are you getting your information..?

Black birds not here yet, usually around March 4 they show up. Can't wait for the little hummers to show up one of my favorites. No sandhills yet either. Canadas are starting to pair up .
