I use Duke and haven’t had an issue on 24hr checks. Of course I don’t really inspect them after they are dead, but they look ok.

We have Z traps and Dukes and I've found that coon can't climb a tree after being caught in either of them. Footholds or cages probably be your best bet.

Is this due to foot damage or has their foot gone to sleep and it just takes a bit for the circulation to come back?

Common sense is a not a vegetable that does well in everyone's garden.

Not sure but I don't think that's it... as they were released (for dog training) an hour or more after being released from the DP. Circulation should have come back by then I would think?

Swivels are your friend. I don't think there is a lot of difference between brands.
