Are alot like rats! crazy only stared getting tripped traps with no catch's once I started using double doors . This one's been tripped with no catch for two days so put a camera on aaannnnndd

Now I curious though, are possums like rats and if they can get their head though something they can get the rest of their body ?

Yes, I believe with most furbearers, if they can get their head through the body will follow. Even saw this when checking black bear dens.

We have civets and the occasional barn rats we catch so 1X1 or 1X2 is as small as I go here and the doors are covered well or they will be empty little skunks go through a pretty small hole also.

Seen a rabbit go through a chain link fence once with little effort it pushed its head through then squeezed the rest of its body through, it was spooked by a dog in the next yard.

Well I was right about a possum. But, I honestly didn’t think one could squeeze through, lol. Good video. Seems us Southern boys have to rely on trail cams due to the vegetation and leaf or pine needle covered trails.

Seems I mentioned that was gonna happen.....head out=body can follow.

I admire your needing to see for yourself.

Im that way too about a lot of things.

You asked if possums are like rats and if they can get their head out they can escape. Another tip: coons, fox, bcats, and coyotes can and will do it too.

Cage trap back to welding shop....or cover it with 1x2 welded wire.

What can I say , I have no problem admitting I was wrong but I just like seeing stuff when I can grin just so many times I've been told someone won't work because of abc but when I'm able to see it myself it's more of a matter of xyz. Gotta say though part of me is happy it doesn't hold the little critters, honestly I feel it would be a kinda irritating to come and have a chipmunk or squirrel everyday laugh then again I don't really make these for little critters. Still trying to figure out though, how I've held so many other possums that look to be about the same size with noting on the sides at all confused

that was no regular possum, it was a highly evolved David Copperfield possum.

Nothing wrong with experimenting. Im guilty of that.

On a similar note: a landowner put 6x6 panels in front of his culvert pipe to keep beavers out.....beavs went right thru it...toting sticks and mud and promptly clogged it up.

When ya learn by experimenting, your ahead of just being told how to do it, imo.

Keep after it !!
