nyhuntfish OP trapper N Joined: Jan 2018 Posts: 1,100 New York	What coat (Northeast US or colder) do you wear in the winter for beaver trapping that won't get cut to shreds? I can't even wear my coat to Walmart it's so bad (and that's pretty bad). What do you recommend that lasts? Is it a coat? A jacket? A fleece? A vest? A combination? Thanks.

nyhuntfish OP trapper N Joined: Jan 2018 Posts: 1,100 New York	A friend of mine told me NYS buys "North End" jackets for instructors (or did anyway). I might also look into those, they're cheaper than North Face. He said no rips on his after 10 years. They're fleeces.

Eagleye trapper E Joined: Oct 2012 Posts: 3,897 Wisconsin	I wear a shell from a North Face Mountain Jacket and usually a hooded sweatshirt or wool shirt under that- great for wind, waterproof, burr proof - I hate wearing gloves even for water trapping so the wrists are Velcro.

Raspberry bushes tear you up. I've been through several pair of Filson chaps and pants over the years but I'm not sure they still offer them.

I purchased a wool vest from Schaefer this winter, it's really good quality stuff. I also own a couple Filson wool vests. Schaefer is half the price. I'm a vest junkie.
