A tapping i will go
A tapping i will go
I'll collect some sap
Instead of trap.
A tapping I will go.

Yip, the temp just crossed over the freezing mark, so the season starts now.

See ya.

Wife's cousin just got done tapping ours in the yard. Sap was steady before getting the tap in the tree. You are right the season is here, as always the question is how long

Thousands...i don't think so. Dozens, maybe.

I spend the day putting in the first dozen, setting up the first evaporator, and splitting a half cord of firewood.

Hopefully, I'll get another couple dozen maple taps in, in the next few days. Then maybe another dozen black walnut taps. When they dry up, the birch ought to be running.

A buddy of the All Purpose Boy came over and tapped some of our trees this afternoon. He's a single dad and he does stuff like syrup cooking as a project with his 2 young daughters. He pays by sharing his proceeds! I love me some tasty maple surple.

The property I trap on is tapped in now. 300,000 taps this year they hire a crew of around 20 for 2 weeks to tap in big job. Our temperatures are looking good for the next few weeks starting tomorrow. Should be a good year for them.

T-Rex. How is the black walnut syrup? I’ve heard of people making it never tried it

This will only be the second time I've harvested it. The first time yield was very low compared to the maples. The product was surprisingly similar to maple syrup, Maybe tastes a just little more smokey, or nutty or something

Really slow year hear. Taps have been out 6-9 days depending upon the woods and 200 gallons from 500 trees a week ago. Corrected some holes in our lines in one woods yesterday, small run but those squirrels do a lot of chewing and if you get a hole or two you don't get much or any sap from that whole line.
