It time to start getting you fur ready for the auction this weekend. You can drop them off at Fairbanks Fur Tannery or with JR. Lets not wait till the last day, sooner is better, so we can organize them. Also if you have items to donate to the fling. You can drop them off at the Cutting Edge. Should be a great weekend!

Good thing the BOG did not pass, eliminating the harvest of white animals. Well, years ago, I tried, and failed, to prevent the protection of any "white-colored black bear", in this area. That was back under the Knowles BOG, and I didn't stand a chance. That rule still stands, today.

What rule still stands today A.V.? Can not harvest a white colored black bear in unit 1c, or 1d. Ted was on my side, of course, as to the non-sensical idea that this represented some "spirit bear", but other BOG members, such as Joel Bennett and another from Sitka, (who's name escapes me), refused to budge. They wanted protection, mostly at the urging of a local, well-connected photographer that was making bank on pictures of said animal. Our dearly devoted "friend", Nic Jans added his two, (or four), cents into the pot, and that was it.

I remember, now: Ben Grussendorf. Would NEVER have happened if Buist and Yurko had been sitting with Spraker. NEVER.

White bears only become “spirit bears” when they die. Hunter’s are helping them become the bear they were meant to be....

2nd hand info, i could be wrong it started at 1200 and had no bids It's still available That is exactly what happened! Maybe Heimo didn't actually want to sell that wolf when he established that minimum bid?!!! Pete

Unusual color but it actually looks sort of flat to me. I thought I noticed something. But the pack said it was beautiful.

I know Heimo traps north but I didn’t think he was far enough north to trap Ellesmere Island white wolves. I guess that is why the minimum he set. Lots of gas to get there.
I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

Pretty happy with the results of our 46th annual ATA Fur auction. We sold a little over $80,000 worth of fur and antler on Saturday and Sunday's auctions. Thank you for all the volunteers that helped out. We couldn't do it without you. Had around 100 furs that didn't sell and got them all separated out this morning. Got all the tags separated for individual trappers, inventory sheets tallied up and just waiting on our bookkeeper to cut the checks. Everything really clicked this year without any major mishaps. Our biggest hiccup was running the generator out of gas for the PA system and misplacing one lynx skull. Overall a great sale for the little crowd we had. Thank you again to all our volunteers.

Unusual color but it actually looks sort of flat to me. I agree. That wouldn't have got much if you had taken to Mattie or Wivoda. White, not Ken, seems to bring dollar signs to many trappers, like white toes on lynx. There was a 2nd white wolf. Did it sell? How much?

Hey guys just a quick update on the ATA Fur Auction in Fairbanks. We had a great sale and sold $83,000 worth of fur on those two days. Everyone should have received their checks but our bookkeeper didn't send the invoices with the checks. Sorry about that. The invoices got mailed out on Friday so you should be receiving them soon. Thanks to all who sent fur in for the auction and those who volunteered for the two days to help. We had a great bunch of people on the auction and everything went off without a hitch. We were short on trapper fur this sale so I asked for the help of two of Fairbanks' local fur buyers. Alaska Raw Fur and Arctic Raw Fur both stepped up to help out with supplying us with a bunch of fur. We sold all but a couple bags of fur. Looking forward to next season already.
On behalf of the ATA BOD, we thank you for your continued support.

Thanks JR for your leadership put together the fur auction. It takes a lot of time and coordination. We all appreciate your dedication to trapping and the ATA. Look foreword to working for you next year. PS, great sale numbers, even with the small crowd this year.
