Rusty (person in charge) has been at the sale since Thursday of last week. That is 4 days of going non-stop. Now he is home doing paperwork. Give him a break!! I bet we see results posted later on today.

Yeah a whole $2 more than the Missouri state auction on coyotes. I find it hard to believe those coyotes up there aren't a lot better than Missouri coyotes.

Nevermind I thought you were saying the Idaho sale was the best

It is what it is in this market. I was there, there was a bunch of buyers there, including two Greeks who I believe were just dealing with the buyers although they spent a lot of time checking and grading cats. Lots of fur there. Coyote market is in the dumps, which everyone should have known already. I would have loved to have had the sale two to three weeks ago, figure it would have upped my cat average $100. On the other hand, I wouldn't have had them ready, so they wouldn't have gotten sold at all. Russia's timing hurt us. And yes I feel the fur buyers take advantage of that to an extent, but that is to be expected when dealing with anyone who is in a middleman position, they are the ones taking the risks.

What it boiled down to on the cat side of things, we had high end buyers that were paying good money for high end stuff (off from a couple weeks ago, but still good money) and low grade buyers buying the low grade stuff. Problem was in all the mid grade stuff, the high end buyers weren't interested in anything other than high end stuff, some of the low grade buyers were bidding on everything, but they were bidding low grade prices. Big nice toms with off bellies were getting the same bids or only a few dollars more than titty bellied females. Grading was hard, but one thing (positive or negative, depending on your perspective) I saw was they are back to grading and bidding on color, not size, like they did years back. Last few years they have been paying good for big cats with good fur but poor color and really hitting size hard, paying peanuts in comparision to what they were ten years ago for pretty little cats. This year those little fuzzy yearlings with nice white bellies were bringing good money again.

Overall everything went smooth and it was more organized than past years. The way we shagged the fur this year took much longer, but it wasn't mass chaos, and to my knowledge there were no issues or confusion.

Kudos to all the volunteers and with the fur market being the way it is, I thought it was a good sale.

I brought five big toms with off bellies home, but was satisfied with the prices offered on everything else. Very happy with the prices on the few nice small cats I had, got better on them than I have in quite a few years.

I have a hound in this fraking race!! I sold 212 winter ‘rats to one of the buyers at this sale the week before. I’d like to know if his sob story was true or did he get in my knickers?

For what it’s worth, the was a trappers sale in Ohio on Saturday (same day as idaho). Rats averaged $3.52 with a top of $5.75

Please NOTE - I know nothing about Ohio muskrats. I don’t know how many were offered, what the grade was, or anything else.

I know Nothing but those 2 numbers. So take them for what ever you want.

Wow I figured the coyotes would have been $22 to $25,guessing the Russian war is the reason behind the $14 avg, same with bobcats thought they would be in that $255 avg, thank's for posting there are some good fur pictures on here ,different thread I think.
