About 4 years ago dad showed me a fence he had helped build when he was twelve . The wire was new and bright so it had been replaced the post were the same ones he had set 60 or so years prior . He was positive about this because one in particular that was odd shaped had skint his nose when they put it in the hole .when they replaced the wire they tied it to the line post instead of stapling it like they did when dad helped put it in

I cut them by order now. No 2 farmers want the exact same thing. Most here want them 10 ft.
I cut and skid them out. They have to come get them and load them. They usually bring a skid steer to load them.
Corners $40
Brace’s $25
Lines $15
I’m probably $5 to $10 cheap, but I’m kind of triple dipping on the deal. The guvment is paying me to do timber stand improvement, I cut the tops up for firewood, and I sell the posts.

Is the timber stand improvement a federal deal or state?

Life ain't supposed to be easy.

A friend of mine makes really nice replacement handles out of osage. The wood is pretty, sort of orangish brown, with a pleasant pattern. It darkens with age to a deep reddish brown. The handles are really strong. They work well on sledgehammers, axes and hatchets.

If you cut them green and plant the post' while still fresh, many times they will sprout and take root.

Is hedge the same as locust? I've helped cut and install locust posts for fencing; and, locust is supposed to last a long, long time.

No, hedge and locust are different. Both very rot resistant though. And both make great wooden bows.

No. Hedge is properly called Osage Orange, or Bois D' Arc in French, called Hedge Apple from the green softball sized fruiting body.

The first program was through the state for 15 acres.
The second time I signed up was through USDA. CSP program.
