About 40 years ago (back when the local Sears had a sporting goods department) there was a big ol' musky lure about 8" long made to look like a muskrat. It was $20 or $30 if I recall and I desperately wanted it but that was unheard of money for an eight year old at that time. I regret to this day not buying that thing and putting it in a drawer for 40 years. I have tried looking for an image on the internet but I've never found anything similar LOL - must have been a local maker or something. It sat on the bottom shelf of the lure display for a very long time.
Just happy to be here.

I recall more than one old timer tell how the big muskies were caught. They harness up a live chipmunk or gopher with couple hooks. Put it on a piece wood as a rafting and float it in to good cover. Then pull the critters off the float and let them swim around.. I'm guessing I'm not the only one here ever heard that story.
Many years older brother netted a catfish that was lollie gagging on surface. When got to looking it had a muskrat tail hanging out of its mouth.. I may actually have a photo of that stuck in a shoe box somewhere.
So it surly happens.

When muskie first appeared here in Maine I was fishing a dead water for them and couldn't quite place something being wrong. There was something missing. It finally dawned on me one day fishing there. There were no frogs around.
